ABOUT
Hi, my name is Benjamin Höger - I am a loving father and husband and a passionate landscape photographer.
Photography is a passion, especially landscape photography. I love the process, the magic of creating a photo. From planning and finding new locations, observing and feeling nature as the seasons change, choosing the perfect time for the shoot, to post-processing, new stories and experiences emerge for me - and experiences make life worth living for me. A photo, a frozen experience, lets me travel back to that moment and relive the experience.
I was born in Germany in 1979, am crazy about fantasy and science fiction and work in IT. I started taking photos at an early age of around 10. For a long time I only used compact cameras, as these were the most practical for me on long hikes and climbing tours in the mountains, mainly in South Tyrol. In 2017 my life changed radically. After a climbing accident and a shattered knee and almost 6 months later, with the birth of my beloved daughter, my life and my attitude towards it changed completely. I decided to pursue my passion more again. I work full-time in e-commerce and, especially in this stressful job, trips into nature are a must in order to find balance and relaxation.
The theme of my landscape photography is mainly woodlands and water. This is the landscape that surrounds me near where I live. The Black Forest, the Palatinate Forest, the Odenwald, but also the Rhine plain are among my “playgrounds”. Of course, I enjoy every moment when a trip takes me to a different environment. The Alps in particular, with their majestic peaks and beautiful places, always have a magical attraction for me. A place where I somehow feel at home.
If my pictures trigger a hint of longing when you look at them, give you the feeling that it is a scene from a fantasy film, leads you in the scene then I have achieved my goal.
